I took my Dad down to Porthcawl pier the other day. He was quite a keen fisherman in his time. It was a lovely day as we quietly strolled along and then I noticed this plaque that has been placed in the wall. The words are from the Bible, the book of Psalms reminding us that the waters and the waves can thunder and make us human beings realise how small and fragile we are. But there is another truth contained in the words as you read them-God is mightier than the waves of the sea. On one occasion the disciples of Jesus were terrified because their boat it seemed was going to be overwhelmed by the waves. Calmly Jesus said “Peace-be quiet” and there was a great calm. The disciples said “What kind of a man is this that even the winds and waves obey Him!?”   Later it dawned on them that He was much more than a man but God walking on earth-and water!   In a world full of hurricanes and storms have you discovered this great truth about the Lord Jesus for yourself ? It is a tremendous comfort to know that “God is always greater than all of our troubles.”
